Purposeful + Flexible
Madrona Residence
Aging in place with
flexibility to expand.
new build / 2,000 sq. ft.
This home was designed to support both immediate and long-term living needs. In the short term, it accommodates aging parents, including safety measures for a family member with late-stage Alzheimer’s. Looking ahead, the design anticipates an additional 1,000 square feet, allowing the home to evolve over time without disrupting the original structure. Expansive decks extend the living space into the backyard, effectively doubling the home’s usable area. With all doors except the front opening outward, the design offers a sense of freedom while maintaining a safe, comfortable environment.
